There’s a saying that
says home is where the heart is. When thinking of home most people think about
their physical homes where they get their mail and lay their heads. However,
its much deeper than that. The true home where everyone resides is Earth. It is
hardly ever thought of “home”, but it’s technically the global home of every
human being. So much is done to make our living here on Earth comfortable: for
example, building of nice homes, manufacturing of luxury cars, cultivating of the
best foods, and the use of the best minerals and raw materials to make the best
clothes.
Has
anyone ever thought about what can be done to preserve the Earth? The very land
we use to make a comfortable living. Taking care of home means taking care of
the Earth, having a heart, and conserving the Earth’s natural resources include
air, water, soil, minerals, plants, and animals. Air and water pollution,
global warming, smog, acid rain, deforestation, wildfires are just few of the
environmental issues that we are facing right now. In order to combat these
issues, members are needed to become apart of the fight to protect Earth, and
make it a lasting, clean place to live.
According to the National Geographic; the population
of human beings has grown enormously in the past two centuries. Billions of
people use up resources quickly as they eat food, build houses, produce goods,
and burn fuel for transportation and electricity. The continuation of life as
we know it depends on the careful use of natural resources.
Becoming
an Earth Day Member is one of the most direct and meaningful ways you can
support our work in the environmental movement. By joining as a member, your
annual donation will provide us with the certain funding needed to coordinate
long-term action to achieve universal climate literacy, advocate for civil and
corporate action on climate change, educate on sustainable food systems and
plastic pollution, and recruit millions of concerned citizens into the
environmental movement.
